This gathering marked the start of the 2024 CSET Conference 2024<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span>,providing a unique opportunity for dialogue on security in critical infrastructure<\/strong><\/span>, with a specific focus on the energy and transportation sectors<\/strong><\/span>. The international conference, taking place today and tomorrow at Genoa\u2019s Palazzo della Borsa, will dive into the latest in innovation and security in these essential sectors.<\/p>\n

Welcoming over 150 guests, HWG Sababa\u2019s CEO Alessio Aceti<\/strong><\/span> and President Enrico Orlandi<\/strong><\/span>, introduced key themes of the evening, fostering open discussion among cybersecurity professionals, infrastructure specialists, and key national institutions. Among the notable attendees was British Consul General Kassim Ramji<\/strong><\/span>, who delivered formal greetings on behalf of the UK.<\/p>\n

In a prominent address Paola Girdinio<\/strong><\/span>, President of Centro di Competenza MIMIT Start 4.0<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, emphasized the Center’s role in promoting secure digital transformation for Italian businesses. \u201cThis tenth edition of the CSET reflects our growth and continuous collaboration with forward-looking organizations like HWG Sababa,<\/em>” said Girdinio. “The numbers show the real impact of our Competence Center, providing advanced tools and training for companies to navigate the challenges of Industry 4.0 with confidence.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Giovanni Battista Gaggero<\/strong><\/span>, CEO of AIrFIELD Security<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, presented the AIrFIELD project, developed through research at the University of Genoa to create practical solutions for protecting corporate infrastructure from cyber threats. \u201cOur technologies leverage artificial intelligence to enhance not only the security of industrial networks but also the operational safety of production facilities, safeguarding both infrastructure and people<\/em>,\u201d Gaggero explained. \u201cWhile many anomaly detection solutions for Ethernet networks are available on the market, with the AIrFIELD project, we have gone further: we expanded OT visibility to include serial networks such as Modbus. This approach maximizes the ROI of existing security solutions, offering unprecedented visibility and providing integrated and comprehensive protection for even the most complex infrastructures.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

Ivan Monti<\/strong><\/span>, CISO of Ansaldo Energia<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, shared insights on tackling the challenge of information sharing among companies. \u201cAs the CISO of a large, internationally-operating organization, I have often needed to collaborate with other CISOs and companies to exchange information on attacker tactics and procedures,<\/em>\u201d Monti noted. \u201cBuilding a cohesive response to cyber threats and bolstering our nation\u2019s resilience is crucial.\u201d To address this need, Monti introduced ISACCHAIN,<\/a> a blockchain-based info-sharing platform that ensures confidentiality, provides timely sharing of compromise indicators, and automates notifications to authorities in line with the NIS2<\/a> directive.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The event proved to be an invaluable networking and learning experience <\/strong><\/span>featuring discussions on current topics like the latest technological advances in OT security and the impact of new NIS2 security standards on businesses<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n
