A new hub of advanced expertise to protect critical infrastructures and strengthen national security in the most sensitive domains
Rome, 15 April 2026 – HWG Sababa – an Italian leader in managed services, strategic solutions, and cybersecurity consulting – today announced the launch in Rome of a new Business Unit dedicated to Space, Defence, and Cyber Threat Intelligence.
The new unit provides advanced cybersecurity and intelligence capabilities for mission-critical environments, combining in-depth analysis and operational support for Institutions, Defence, Law Enforcement, the Space ecosystem, and the national industrial sector.
The launch of this Business Unit contributes to strengthening national security by addressing the most strategic and sensitive sectors, responding to the growing challenges posed by the increasing complexity and instability of the current geopolitical landscape.
Alessio Aceti, CEO of HWG Sababa, commented: “Now more than ever, it is essential to integrate cybersecurity and intelligence capabilities to address increasingly complex threats. This new Business Unit represents a concrete step in strengthening national capabilities in strategic domains such as defence and space”.
The Business Unit is supported by a team of highly qualified experts with specialised skills across critical domains, and further expansion is planned in the coming months.
The team’s activities also include technical analysis of critical hardware components to promptly identify potential vulnerabilities and cases of compromise by design, addressing risks that may arise as early as the production phase. The unit is also involved in significant international projects, including initiatives carried out in collaboration with the Armed Forces of several NATO countries, involving advanced simulation activities and cyber defence scenarios.
The positioning of the Business Unit is grounded in HWG Sababa’s established expertise and ongoing research and innovation activities, which have also received international recognition. Recently, the Group ranked among the top performers in the first edition of the European Space Cybersecurity Hackathon, a European competition focused on the protection of satellites, GNSS systems, and telecommunications networks, with a focus on emerging topics such as software supply chain security, artificial intelligence, and post-quantum cryptography.
The event saw strong participation from Italian institutional and industrial stakeholders, highlighting the growing awareness of cyber threats in Italy. Among the guests was General Alfredo Ramponi, Honorary President and Board Advisor of HWG Sababa. During his career, the General held senior positions at the Carabinieri Scientific Investigations Centre and the Scientific Investigations Group (RIS), contributing to the establishment of the RIS in Parma. He later held leadership roles within the Anti-Mafia Investigative Directorate and was responsible for cyber activities at the Italian Internal Security Agency.
The presence in Rome further strengthens HWG Sababa’s national positioning, already established in Central Italy also through its subsidiary Akito, specialised in cybersecurity for SMEs and Public Administration. The Rome office ensures a direct presence in a highly strategic and institutional environment.
