Multicedi: A strategic partnership enabling a centralized security model to manage IT/OT complexity in retail.
Milan, April 28, 2026 – In a context where the retail sector is increasingly exposed to complex and distributed cyber threats, HWG Sababa – an Italian leader in managed services, strategic solutions, and cybersecurity consulting –strengthens its positioning as a strategic security partner for large-scale retail, alongside Multicedi – one of the country’s leading companies in the sector, managing over 600 affiliated supermarkets.
The collaboration, developed together with Coherentia – a system integrator specialized in IT and OT environments with 25 years of experience supporting major retail companies in Italy – has led to the adoption of a managed security model based on HyperSOC™, HWG Sababa’s managed detection and response service, ensuring continuous monitoring, extended visibility, and response capabilities across IT and OT environments.
The project represents a concrete response to the evolving challenges of large-scale retail, where the increasing digitalization of operations, the spread of hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructures, and the integration of thousands of connected devices significantly expand the attack surface. As highlighted in the 2026 Clusit Report on cybersecurity in Italy and worldwide, the Retail/Wholesale sector (which includes large-scale retail) is among the most affected, with a 34% increase in the number of victims involved in cyberattacks in 2025, along with a higher severity of attack outcomes over the year. In this scenario, cybersecurity is increasingly becoming a key enabler of business continuity and resilience.
The collaboration has made it possible to build an integrated security framework capable of unifying monitoring and response across Multicedi’s complex ecosystem. Thanks to the support of HWG Sababa and Coherentia, Multicedi has already achieved concrete results: continuous monitoring across the entire retail network – consisting of 600 stores and 5 distribution centers – centralized visibility over thousands of IT and OT assets, and a 50% reduction in threat detection and response times. The project has also strengthened security governance and supported the path toward compliance with the NIS2 Directive.
“When operating at this scale, risk management is not a theoretical exercise. If operations stop even for a short time, the cost is immediate,” comments Livio De Prisco, CIO of Multicedi.
“The complexity of retail infrastructures today requires a systemic approach to cybersecurity that goes beyond isolated interventions. The value of this project lies in the ability to build a continuous operating model in which technology, skills, and processes work together to protect customers’ businesses. We have been at the forefront of protecting the Retail and Wholesale sector for years, with over 70 active clients: this new key collaboration confirms our ability to successfully manage complex dynamics,” says Marco Fattorelli, CTO of HWG Sababa.
